AS this year’s edition of Osun-Ikoyi festival commences in Ikoyi, Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land, Oba Yisau Oyetunji Bantale Otunla-Kodaolu I, has identified culture as a veritable means of wealth creation.
Olukoyi who was speaking in his palace emphasised the need for government to tap the nations cultural potentials for economic turn around in the country.
According to the traditional ruler, culture remains the symbol of identity of any nation, saying, any nation that toys with its culture and tradition of its people was heading to doom.
Oba Otunla, who was addressing some women dancing with fire wood to simplify the commencement of Osun Ikoyi festival, urged traditional rulers to always preserve their cultural heritage for posterity.
While decrying the negligence of some traditional rulers to their culture, Olukoyi said further that, the promotion of the culture should be paramount to the custodian of tradition.
Oba Otunla charged sons and daughters of the ancient community to champion a common front for the development of Ikoyi land, maintaining that the task of repositioning the town was a collective responsibility.
