Taraba Acting Governor Pledges To Revive State Owned Media

The Acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Umar, has pledged to overhaul the state owned media outfits to meet the current global standards.
Umar made the pledge while interacting with members of the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)  in Jalingo.
“We have restored subvention to our media houses to keep them operating, but plans are underway to completely transform them for better services,” he said.
Umar lauded the media for playing a key role in resolving the recent political crisis that rocked the state over Gov. Danbaba Suntai’s health.
“I commend your maturity and professionalism in reporting the recent misunderstanding that we had in the state.
“We now have peace in the state due to your ability to report the truth,” he noted.
Umar said that the government would continue to pursue developmental projects such as roads construction, water and electricity among others for the benefit of the people.
The state chairman of NUJ, Alhaji Abdullahi Gambo, in his speech, appealed to the acting governor to assist the union to rehabilitate its press centre.
Gambo also urged the state government to facilitate the take – off of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism Centre in Jalingo.
