The Delta State Government and other stakeholders in the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) signed with the Egbema-Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF) have commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Chevron Nigeria Ltd (CNL) Joint Venture for its commitment to the partnership initiative for development in communities in the state.
The initiative was lauded during the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Egbema-Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation held recently in Wellington Hotel, Effurun, Delta State.
Special Adviser to the state governor on Community Affairs, Mr Vincent Omorie, in his remarks, relished the progress being made in enhancing sustainable development of the communities around Chevron’s operations in Delta State through the GMoU which, he said, has made the people the focal point in the development of their communities.
Omorie also commended the foundation for the sustained campaign against oil theft and pipeline vandalism around their areas and encouraged it to source for more funds from other organisations apart from Chevron for more developmental strides.
