THE Kano Emirate Council, on Wednesday, said that the traditional Durbar to commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebration was cancelled due to the health condition of the Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
Briefing journalists in Kano, the District Head of Dala, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, announced the cancellation of all traditional activities planned for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Among the traditional sallah activities are Hawan Sallah, Hawan Daushe, Hawan Nasarawa and Hawan Dorayi.
Aminu, however, did not give details of the health condition of the emir.
The district head also said that the riding of horses in Kano Metropolis by youths had been outlawed.
He said the decision was taken because of the manner some of the youths rode the horses, which had endangered lives of the masses, particularly children.
The district head warned that anyone who flouted the order would be arrested and prosecuted.
Aminu said that the Emirate would not fold its arms and allow such horse riders to continue to constitute a nuisance in the city.
He urged the people to pray for peace in the state and the country.
