PDP faults Fayemi’s claims on allocations, debts


THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has faulted the claim by the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi that it collects an average of N2.3 billion monthly as allocation from the federation account.Also, the party in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Friday, said that the claim by the administration that it inherited a debt of N43 billion from the erstwhile PDP-led government of Chief Olusegun Oni is untrue.Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Mr Makanjuola Ogundipe, who said these in the statement signed by his media aide, Mr Femi Omlolusi, said: “Going by the figures from the Federal Ministry of Finance, the state government had collected more than N300 billion as statutory allocations from the Federation Account in the last three years.”Ogundipe was reacting to comments by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Tayo Ekundayo, during a press conference to mark the third anniversary of the Fayemi-led administration that the state government was getting an average of N2.3 billion monthly and that it inherited N43 billion debt from the previous administration.The commissioner had said that the administration should be commended for its prudence and its …
