The 11-man caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kano has been fully constituted more than a month after the committee was inaugurated. The PDP national secretariat was only able to appoint a chairman and secretary for the committee during the inauguration over a month ago. The two officials were then given the mandate to appoint the nine other members of the 11-member committee. Speaking during the swearing-in of the nine new members last week, Hassan Kafayos, chairman of the committee, said the committee will ensure equity and justice in the party, stressing that it will not condone any form of disrespect to the party’s rules and regulations.
“I am here to see that the concept of justice and equity prevails in the Kano State PDP. I and the party secretary, Malam Andrew Musa, will ensure strict adherence to the rules and regulations governing the party’s activities in Kano State. What we need is the cooperation of all stakeholders in the party to see that PDP in Kano State has regained its lost vigour, and I want to state here that the recent victory of Bamanga-led PDP in the court and with INEC is vivid evidence that shows that PDP is intact. You are either with Bamanga chairmanship or you are not in PDP,” the caretaker chairman stated.
Earlier in his welcome address, Ambassador Aminu Wali, PDP elder in the state, said the inauguration of the caretaker committee has clearly put an end to issues of whether the caretaker committee is realistic or mystic. It is not clear if the Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso group is represented in the committee as the national secretariat of the PDP had enjoined the caretaker chairman to ensure that all interests are taking care of in constituting the committee.
