Ogun Lawmaker Elected As Hockey Federation Board Member



The Chairman, House committee on Youth, Sports and Employment Generation in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Olufemi Allen-Taylor has been elected into the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) to represent the six states in the south west.

Allen–Taylor defeated another candidate from Oyo state in a keenly contested election held at the National Sports Commission’s office, Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo state.

With this development, Allen-Taylor would represent Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti at the highest decision making body for hockey in Nigeria.

Answering questions shortly after the election, the Ogun lawmaker assured that he would do the needful to give the game of hockey a facelift and make it a household game like football in the six states that he would be representing.

He reiterated the commitment of his Committee to the speedy passage of the State Sports Development Fund Bill being considered by the legislature, adding that the development of sports, particularly at the grassroots would be vigorously pursued.
