The Ike Obosi, Chief Osita Chidoka has celebrated his yearly New Yam festival in style as a way of promoting the Igbo culture, language and tradition.
Speaking during the celebration of this year’s New Yam festival at his home town, Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chidoka said that it was necessary for Igbo sons and daughters to come home in promoting the culture and tradition of Ndigbo, irrespective of their status in the society.
Chidoka who is also the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), maintained that the core values of hard work and entrepreneurship were embedded in Igbo culture, especially in farming and communal work which distinguishes them from other tribes.
He further said: “Today is an opportunity to thank God for making the farming season to come to an end and for ensuring a bumper harvest because Igbo culture of hard work and communal work is reflected in the New Yam festival.’’
