The legislative council consisting of the 10 lawmakers in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, have passed a vote of confidence on the administration of the chairman of the council, Mr Folorunsho Akerejola.
It will be recalled that the council chairman had been drafted before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by one Honourable Samuel Oyewole, over what was described as mismanagement of the N600 million that accrued to the council since the council chairman assumed office in May 2013.
However, at the sitting of the legislative council of the local government, the House, in a motion moved by Honourable Gbenga Daniel and seconded by Honourable Edward Salami, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the administration of Hon Akerejola.
The council expressed its satisfaction with what had been achieved by the council chairman, saying that it did not find the chairman wanting over mismanagement of the council’s allocation.
Meanwhile, a non-partisan group, Akoko-Edo Reformers Network, has described an alleged misappropriation of fund by the chairman of the council as baseless, malicious and a calculated attempt to mislead the people of the local government.
The group, in a statement endorsed by its national coordinator, Honourable Jeffery Obasanmi, said the allegation smacked of desperation on the side of the petitioner to ridicule the administration of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.
