The Presidential Advisory Committee on the proposed national conference has paid a courtesy visit on Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Femi Okunrounmu first expressed condolence on the demise of former Governor Olusegun Agagu and former Commissioner, Deji Falae in the ill-fated Associated airline crash.
He said the intention of the committee is to consult with Nigerians widely to know what they want concerning the conference such as the agenda, selection of delegates, the length of conference and its legal basis, and also make recommendations on how its findings can be adapted into the Constitution.
Governor Mimiko in his response commended the decision to commence the conference in Ondo state and that the proposed conference is a step in the right direction, that Nigeria will emerge stronger and more united at the end of the conference.
He noted that the government and people of Ondo state are totally and unequivocally in support of the national conference and commended President Jonathan for constituting it.
Chairman of the committee, Mr. Femi Okurounmu however urged Nigerians to make their input in the committee’s work.
